Coronavirus/COVID-19 Responses from around the Province
The dioceses of Province III are each responding according to the need of their area. All are recommending common sense application of CDC best practices to worship and parish gatherings. Additionally, the majority of our dioceses have instituted more rigorous guidelines for social distancing to help slow and limit the outbreak. Below you will find links to updates from several of our dioceses.
The Episcopal Diocese of Washington cancels public worship and parish operations until May 16.
The Diocese of Virginia suspends public worship for two weeks, effective March 11.
The Diocese of Maryland extends the suspension of public worship until May 16.
The Diocese of Bethlehem is asking all parishes in the diocese to cease all operations, including worship, until at least April 12.
The Diocese of Central Pennsylvania is suspending worship in its churches on the Sundays of March 22 and 29 and canceling all large gatherings in the diocese and parish meetings.
The Diocese of Delaware is suspending all public worship services within the Episcopal Church in Delaware for the next two weeks, effective March 12, and likely through Easter.
The Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York is suspending Sunday worship effective Sunday March 15 for 3 weeks.
The Diocese of Southern Virginia suspended all church activity including worship for a period of two weeks, starting March 12.
The Diocese of Pittsburgh has suspended public worship through Holy Week and Easter.
The Diocese of Southwestern Virginia limits public worship to 50 or fewer for 8 weeks, starting March 17
